§ 14-27. Disposal restrictions.

  • The following items shall not be acceptable for disposal in the landfill or at the transfer station for deposit into the landfill:

    (1)

    Infectious wastes;

    (2)

    Hazardous wastes;

    (3)

    Animal and fowl fecal matter;

    (4)

    Dead animals except by prior written authorization of the solid waste director;

    (5)

    Containers containing unacceptable or unidentifiable wastes;

    (6)

    Metal drums of more than 60 gallons capacity unless drain holes are provided to prevent containers from holding liquid, or unless filled with identifiable solid waste which is otherwise acceptable;

    (7)

    Stumps, limbs, etc., mixed with garbage or trash unless separated prior to disposal;

    (8)

    Large automobile or machinery parts or other items that require specialized handling or processing;

    (9)

    Tires will be accepted only in a designated tire disposal area;

    (10)

    Lead acid batteries;

    (11)

    Leaf and yard waste;

    (12)

    Used oil or other hazardous liquid waste;

    (13)

    White goods;

    (14)

    Poisons of any nature;

    (15)

    Hot ashes;

    (16)

    Explosives of any kind;

    (17)

    Asbestos waste not packaged in accordance with Title 40 of the Federal Code of Regulations;

    (18)

    Reactive waste;

    (19)

    Herbicides;

    (20)

    Liquid waste;

    (21)

    Paint;

    (22)

    Acids;

    (23)

    Ignitable fluids;

    (24)

    Organic solvents;

    (25)

    Radioactive waste;

    (26)

    Alkalines;

    (27)

    Pesticides;

    (28)

    Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs);

    (29)

    Regulated medical waste;

    (30)

    Any other materials which may be determined to be hazardous by the solid waste director, state or federal authorities.
