§ 6-1. Building Height.

  • Maximum building height for structures within the jurisdiction of this Appendix shall not exceed forty five (45) feet mean roof height for a single family dwelling, commercial building, and industrial building. For purposes of this Section mean roof height is the average of the lowest roof eve height and the highest roof peak height. The highest roof peak height shall not exceed 50'. For multi-family dwellings please refer to the Carteret County Group Housing Appendix. The following structures, features, or equipment are permitted above the height limit: silos, skylights, roof structures for elevators, tanks, ventilating fans, air conditioning or similar equipment for the operation or maintenance of the building and any device used for screening such structures and equipment, telecommunication towers, steeples, flagpoles, chimneys, water tanks, wind towers or similar structures.
