§ 6-14. Determination of deficiencies, correction.

  • If during any inspection by the fire commission, fire marshal or designee determines that the fire department is not meeting minimum standards as set forth in this resolution, notice of deficiency must thereupon be given in writing by the fire commission, fire marshal or designee to the fire chief and the president and secretary of the corporation. This notice shall specify that a period of 45 days shall be allowed to correct the deficiencies. At the end of the 45 day period, an inspection shall be made by the fire commission, fire marshal, designee and/or the state fire marshal to determine if the deficiencies have been corrected, or a reasonable effort exist to correct the deficiencies. If the deficiencies have not been corrected and no reasonable effort exist or is evident to correct said deficiencies; the fire commission, fire marshal or designee shall notify the board of county commissioners and/or state fire marshal, and the payments shall cease until such time as the department shall meet the minimum standards of this article. Thereafter, when the fire department is of the opinion that it is again meeting the standards, it shall again apply for financial assistance in accordance with the provisions of section 6-10 through section 6-13
