§ 6-10. Application for assistance; investigation.

  • A rural volunteer fire department, or a municipally-operated fire department, providing fire protection outside of the municipal boundaries of such municipality, desiring financial assistance under this article, shall make application therefor to the board of county commissioners. Upon receipt of such application, the board will notify the fire commission, and the commission, fire marshal or designee shall inspect the fire department, its equipment, records, personnel, organization, and method of operation. The commission, fire marshal or designee shall, as soon as thereafter possible, file a written report with the board signifying whether such department meets the minimum standards; the board shall approve the application and the department shall be eligible for the payments beginning the first of the following July.
