§ 10-76. Purpose.
The county board of commissioners hereby finds and declares that although junkyards are a legitimate business, the establishment and use and maintenance of junkyards in the vicinity of public streets, roads and highways within the county and outside the jurisdiction of municipalities in the county should be regulated and controlled in order:
(1)
To promote the safety, health, welfare and convenience and enjoyment of travel on and the protection of the public investment in public roads within the county.
(2)
To prevent unreasonable distraction of operators of motor vehicles and to prevent interference with the effectiveness of traffic regulations.
(3)
To attract tourists and promote the prosperity, economic well-being and the general welfare of the county.
(4)
To preserve and enhance the natural scenic beauty of the highways in areas in the county.
It is the intention of the county board of commissioners to provide and declare herein a public purpose and basis for the regulation and control of junkyards.
