Article IV. REQUIREMENTS FOR RECREATIONAL VEHICLES NOT LOCATED IN A RECREATIONAL VEHICLE PARK |
4.1. Unoccupied recreational vehicles: Recreational vehicles (RV's) are permitted to be stored unoccupied on any lot. Such storage of the RV shall not be within any required setback. Unoccupied RV's may not be used for the storage of any materials, items, pets, farm animals, and the like. 4.2. Occupied recreational vehicles: Recreational vehicles for temporary occupancy (fewer than 180 consecutive days)shall not be allowed on individual lots, except for: 1. During the construction of a single-family dwelling or the placement of a modular or manufactured home but not for longer than nine months; 2. In the event of an emergency or disaster when a governmental grant/program provides a temporary recreational vehicle; 3. While the damaged/destroyed manufactured, stick-built, or modular home is being replaced due to damage by fire, flood, hurricane, tornado, or the like; or 4. A parcel one acre or larger. When located on a parcel that is one acre or larger, the RV may not be located closer than 20 feet to the front lot line, 15 feet to any side lot line, and 30 feet from the rear lot line. 4.3. In addition, any occupied recreational vehicle that is not located in an RV park that remains on the property for more than two consecutive weeks shall be anchored to N.C. Building Code wind zone specifications. 4.4. In no case shall there be more than one recreational vehicle on a parcel that is not an RV park. 4.5. Recreation vehicles placed on sites within a special flood hazard area: 1. Shall be on site for fewer than 180 consecutive days and be fully licensed and ready for highway use (a recreational vehicle is ready for highway use if it is on its wheels or jacking system, is attached to the site only by quick disconnect type utilities and has no permanently-attached additions); or 2. Shall meet all the requirements for new construction, including anchoring and elevation requirements of the Flood Damage Prevention and Protection Ordinance. |
